Let's shut it down, Santa Maria!
No Work. No School. No Shopping.
Honor the farmworkers by making May Day a day of economic disruption. This will be a proactive, nonviolent choice to engage in little to no economic activity on May 1: no work, no school, no shopping. Not everyone will be able to do everything -- if you can spend no money on May 1, that's fantastic! If you can walk away from work and/or school, even better.
Then join an afternoon of activities hosted by multiple Santa Maria groups:
2 PM Meet at JCPenney's parking lot if you want to march to City Hall. 3 PM Protest at City Hall. Visit community resource tables. ~3:30 PM Listen to Speakers 4-5:30 PM Enjoy music & entertainment!
